- Amendment F of the original lease agreement for this series of boxcars was amended 18 August 1981 changed the AAR Mechanical Designation for 60 cars, PHD 2100 – PHD 2119 and PHD 2121 – PHD 2160, from XM to XP. The designation change required structural changes to the cars, which were paid for by the lessor (Itel Corporation). This change to the lease was filed with the ICC under 8799-L, which shows the interior height of the cars decreased one inch to 11′ 1″. 8799-L also shows the 140 cars retaining XM designations as also having interior height of 11′ 1″.
- The 60 cars modified from XM to XP were assigned to Diamond Crystal, per a letter from the General Traffic Manager (Jack E. Richert) to W. M. Munce at the PH&D, included in the 8799-L filing.
- ICC Recordation # 8799-M, dated 17 August 1982, shows PHD 2000 – PHD 2099 and PHD 2161 – PHD 2199 to be converted from XM to XP, also at the lessor’s (ITEL) expense. The amended equipment schedule attached to the filing shows the interior height for all of the cars in the PHD 2000 – PHD 2199 series to be 11′ 2″.
- PHD 2120 was not included in the XP designation conversion covered by 8799-L, but appears to be included in filing 8799-M. PHD 1020 is specifically excluded from filing 8799-M.
- Assignments (1982):
- PHD 2000 – PHD 2099: Assigned to Chrysler Corp.
- PHD 2175 – PHD 2176: Assigned to Chrysler Corp.
