About the Customer

Built in the early 1900’s as Port Huron Salt, and acquired shortly after by Joy Morton’s Morton Salt Company, Morton Salt was not only one of the PH&D’s largest customers, it was largely responsible for the existence of the line in the first place as the Port Huron Southern was built to connect the Morton plant with Class 1 railroad connections at Port Huron.
